UNFCCC - COP 28

COP is the apex decision-making authority of UNFCCC.

Being the supreme decision-making body of the Convention, COP assesses the effects of the measures taken by Parties and the progress made in reversing the intensifying climate crisis.

The UAE is going to host COP 28 in 2023, having some common goals –

· Encouraging Global Cooperation
· Addressing Climate Issues

Green Initiatives Practised & Propagated by the UAE –

· Agriculture Innovation Mission –
To create considerable investments in climate-smart agriculture in the next 5 years

· Global Methane Pledge –
To reduce methane emissions by 30% by the end of 2023

· Renewable Resources –
$400 Million investment to help developing countries switch to renewable sources for energy generation

· Net Zero 2050 –
A strategic initiative was taken to make the UAE carbon-neutral by mid-century

· The UAE government spent $17 Billion to help 27 island nations facing adverse climatic effects.

For the UAE, challenges are opportunities & COP28 will bring solutions for all planetary and economic consequences of climate change.
